What’s in my makeup bag??

To start off my ‘Lifestyle’ posts I thought that it would nice to start by showing you all what’s in my makeup bag and how I create this everyday makeup look.

When it comes to makeup I’m kind of an all or nothing type of girl. My makeup is either very minimal and natural or it’s all out totally OTT eyelashes and everything! For my day to day look I like to keep it very natural and sort of healthy looking I suppose. It usually takes me around 15 minutes after my skincare routine and it goes with everything.

To start off I use the Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer (Ideas for normal to dry skin) . This was a recent find that I picked up from boots. With using a powdered foundation I find that you really need a nice joey base to work on. The primer comes out a pink colour on your hand but as you rub it in, it is clear, it really illuminates the skin as soon as you put it on and I find that it keep my skin nice and hydrated underneath the powdered foundation. I love how it’s not too heavy and smooths the skin without making your foundation look thick and cakey.

I then go in with the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in the shade Fair 1 (anyone who uses this will know how quickly the label rubs off!). This little beauty has been a staple in my makeup bag for as long as I can remember now! My eye area is always very dark so I just apply this under my eye areas and blend into my eyelids. It lasts all day, covers literally anything you need to cover. Absolute MUST HAVE!

Foundation, bronze and blush. Ive tried so so many different foundations, liquids and powders, high end and high street and I always find my way back to Bare Minerals. It just works amazing on my skin. The foundation is in the shade Faily light (I got this matched at the counter).  It really is a love or hate brand, although all of their products last amazingly well they are only a light coverage product. Personally I don’t need too much coverage and my skin is genuinely quite good and ‘normal’. It gives me the perfect natural light finish and it almost looks like your not wearing makeup. The bronzer comes out very dark and you only need a little bit, its very bendable and has a matt finish which I much prefer over the shimmer bronzers. The  blusher is a beautiful peachy shade called sunkissed and has a slight shimmer to it, it has the perfect pigmentation too. I like my blusher to be buildable, there’s nothing worse than applying too much and it won’t blend!!

The best part about these products is that they will last you ages! I find myself stocking up on these just once a year and I always get them in the christmas sales. I’m sometimes apprehensive when it comes to spending money on high end makeup products but with these you know you get your moneys worth overtime. I would only use these in the day, when it comes to a night out I go for completely opposite products!

Lets face it, is there such thing as too much highlight? I don’t think so! I use the Mac A44 Soft & Gentle Mineralise Skinfinish highlighter. Its actually not too pigmented so you can build it and blend it really easily for a natural glow. I hate highlighters that give you a stripe of glitter across your cheek.

For my eyes I take the Mac Paint pot in the shade Quite Natural and apply this to the lid with a Mac 193 brush. I blend the edge with my finger and I’m good to go. I love the natural smokey effect it gives. For mascara I use the Nuskin curling mascara. In all honesty I’m going to be changing this soon, it’s something I tried before christmas and I like it but I want to go back to using my old favourite Benefit Roller Lash mascara. I always like to try new mascara’s and I don’t think I’ve quite found my true love with it yet!

I didn’t forget my eyebrows! I’m just at a crossroads right now when it comes to eyebrows haha. I’m currently just using an eyeshadow which I hate. If anyone has any eyebrow product recommendations PLEASE PLEASE help and let me know. I would be very grateful!

Back to Bare Minerals. Now this has got to be one of my all time favourite makeup products (I’m not exaggerating!) This is the Bare Mineral, original mineral veil. It’s a translucent setting powered. I apply this lightly all over my face, it really accentuates the whole look and sets the makeup perfectly, it really does have a super staying power! The pot that I have is  HUGE, my small one (1.5G) lasts me well over a year so I’m excited to see how long I will get out of this (24G). I picked this up in the christmas sale, I think it was from the christmas range so I’m unsure if they will still have it, it was a BARGAIN! My favourite buy of 2017 so far.

To finish off I just apply the KIKO 3D Instant Volume plumping and refreshing lipgloss in the shade 217 which I would describe as a nude pink. Its perfect for my skin tone, is very hydrating and gives a lovely natural glossy finish. If you don’t like volume lip glosses that tingle then this probably isn’t for you, it does give off a tingly sensation. It rubs into the lips very quickly and I do find myself applying this quite often throughout the day, its also very sticky and always gets caught in my hair! Nevertheless I love these glosses and I have collected a few of them now, over a good lipliner they are great.

So thats everything that I keep in my makeup bag and this is pretty much what I wear on a daily basis. I would love to know what your staple makeup products are and is there anything that I use that you’ve tried and maybe don’t like?

I hope you’ve enjoyed my first little beauty post! Thanks for reading.

Love Danielle
